Locked Up 2002

Interview: Jerry Lawler announces 5 city tour of England for September! Click here to see highlights. Bobby Duncum Jr. pinned Bobby Blaze with the Full Nelson Slam in 0:08:09. Rating: ** 3/4 The show opener saw Knoxville legend Bobby Blaze make an appearance, and unfortunatley go down to Bobby Duncum Jr. BDJ has been racking up a few wins on the show openers and mid cards, and I don't think it will be long until we see someone asking BDJ for his services. Falls-Count-Anywhere Match: CM Punk pinned Low-Ki with the G.T.S. in 0:11:03. Rating: *** CM Punk wins a brutal match over Low-Ki and takes a step in the right direction for a title shot. Both men will face off again in Sheffield on September 14th, so these two haven't seen the last of eachother. Trevor Murdoch and James Storm defeated The Pitbulls (Pitbull 1 and Pitbull 2) when J. Storm pinned Pitbull 2 after a spinebuster slam in 0:07:37. Rating: ** 1/2 (Chris Harris no-showed.) No reason has been given as to why Chris Harris wasn't in the match tonight. James Storm came to the ring with Trevor Murdoch, and they got the victory, but Storm seemed upset and we would have to think it would be because of Harris no show. AMW was in a good position to become the number one contenders to the tag titles, but this no show on a major card is going to set them back. Lawler and Jarrett have stated they will not put titles on the line just to have it booked on a show. Teams will need to step up and show they deserve a shot, and so far nobody in the USWA has been able to do that. New Europe (Doug Williams, Harry Smith and Nigel McGuinness) defeated Latin Lover, AJ Styles and Psicosis when Williams defeated L. Lover by countout in 0:18:07. Rating: *** New Europes 3 man team looked good tonight and took a beating to AJ Styles. They have it out for him and it showed tonight. This match ended in count out after the match was basically turning into a brawl and the ref lost control. AJ Styles had to be helped back to the locker room. Christopher Daniels defeated Ultimo Guerrero via pinfall in 0:08:05. Rating: *** (Christopher Daniels retained the Global Title.) Daniels finally gives Guerrero his Global shot, which was promised by former USWA manager Vic Quinonez. It didnt make much of a difference how long he had to wait for that title shot, Daniels got the victory and looks really good going into a HUGE title defense in England when he defends against Nigel Mcguinness. Iron Man Match: Jerry Lynn beat Too Cold Scorpio 11 falls to 7: x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:10:01 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:14:32 x Scorpio beat Lynn via the Flying Scorpio Splash in 0:18:52 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:21:54 x Scorpio beat Lynn via the Flying Scorpio Splash in 0:23:45 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:27:24 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:30:14 x Scorpio beat Lynn via the Flying Scorpio Splash in 0:33:35 x Scorpio beat Lynn via a Frankensteiner in 0:37:26 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:39:06 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:43:20 x Scorpio beat Lynn via a German suplex in 0:45:19 x Lynn beat Scorpio via a springboard cross body press in 0:46:43 x Lynn beat Scorpio via pinfall in 0:48:53 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:50:41 x Lynn beat Scorpio via the Cradle Piledriver in 0:53:08 x Scorpio beat Lynn via the Flying Scorpio Splash in 0:55:47 x Scorpio beat Lynn via the Flying Scorpio Splash in 0:57:52 x time limit expired (Scorpio and Lynn) in 1:00:00 Rating: *** 3/4 (Jerry Lynn won the X-Division Title.) Jerry Lynn gets the victory after Too Cold seemed to wear down after the 30 minute mark. Lynn won the title and had his hand raised by X-Division pioneer Steve Bradley. 2 Cold got up and shook hands with the new X division champion. Cage Match: Taz pinned New Jack after a Thesz press in 0:13:02. Rating: **** 1/4 (Taz won the Heavyweight Title.) The Main Event lived up to its hype as the match of the night as we crowned a NEW USWA Heavyweight champion! Taz finally wins the big match and is the new USWA champion. No interference by either Konnan or Vampiro, but most are already speculating after Taz choked out Vampiro last week, he will be the first in line for a title shot! Card rating: *** 1/2 Match observations: Backstage Notes: -Taz finally winning the title takes the USWA in a new direction, ending the New Jack era as champion. Nobody really knows what this means for the career of New Jack in the USWA. He has always said he didn't care about the belt. After Taz left the ring and the show came to an end, the fans in Knoxville gave Jack a standing ovation while leaving the ring. -The 5 show tour of England is going to be a way to promote the only powerful stable left in the USWA, New Europe. It has been announced after the show that Velocity TV will take place in Liverpool and will feature the entire team of New Europe with Nigel, Doug Williams, Harry Smith, Ulf Herman and Alex Shelly taking on Konnan, Shocker, Latin Lover, Psicosis and Ultimo Guerrero! Two other main events have been announced which include AJ Styles vs Nigel Mcguinness 1 on 1 in Sheffield and Nigel Mcguiness vs Christopher Daniels for the Global Title ending the tour in London! That match has a lot of USWA insiders thinking match of the year! -The 2 Cold Scorpio/Jerry Lynn x title Iron man match did not live up to the expectations that USWA officials had. Scorpio seemed to run out of gas at the 30 minute mark, and some feel the Iron Man match should of had a 30 minute time limit. -Chris Harris no show really hurts AMW's tag title chances. After taking a look at the Tag Team Rankings no team really falls into the category of title worthy. The USWA would rather not defend the titles than continue to give random teams title shots. Someone is going to need to step up and take on that division.
