Interview: Joe and Akiyama update Click here to see highlights. No-Countout-Match: America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm) and Trevor Murdoch defeated New Europe (Doug Williams, Harry Smith and Nigel McGuinness) when Murdoch pinned N. McGuinness with the Top-Rope Bulldog in 0:13:48. Rating: *** 1/4 A big win by the cowboys as Harris and Storm defeated the young team of Williams, Smith and Nigel McGuinness. When the match ended members of the MexiCANS were snickering over the fact that they feel New Europe might not be as strong of a team as they were with Johnny Smith. Vic Quinonez was not happy with the outcome. Vic said he has a lot riding on the tag titles, and it's a lack of preperation by Nigel and his crew that will cause him to lose control of the gold! Nigel was ready to deck Vic Q, but thought better of it, and left the area. Backstage: Low-Ki barges into Jeff Jarretts office. Low-Ki says that CM Punks attempt to get out of thier main event last week in Wakefield should not go unpunished. Jarrett asks Ki what he feels would be a proper punishment? A suspension? Low-Ki says that would be too easy. What he wants is for both men to be entered into the KOTDM and they will face eachother in the first round. Jarrett grants Ki his request. [X-Division Number One Contender]: No-Countout-Match: Jerry Lynn pinned CM Punk with the Cradle Piledriver in 0:21:52. Rating: ***** In the showstealer of the night Jerry Lynn defeated CM Punk when Low Ki came out and distracted Punk during the match. This led to Lynn getting the win and the right to face Too Cold for the X-Title! CM Punk was upset at Ki for costing him the match, and a matchup between Lynn and Too Cold has all the young X Division stars paying attention. No-Countout-Match: Christopher Daniels pinned Latin Lover with the Last Rites in 0:14:04. Rating: *** 3/4 Daniels take out another member of Konnans LAX team. Daniels continues to tell everyone that he works alone, but his wrestling matches have only been contracted to take on Konnans friends. Konnan has enough to worry about with Vampiro breathing down his neck for another title shot, but he can't ignore that Daniels is still undefeated and wants a shot at the Global Title. Interview: Americas Most Wanted comes out to a decent ovation. James Storm says that the fight against AJ Styles and Lynn was a brutal feud they are happy to have won and have out of the way. Harris says the Championship Committee made the right decision picking them as the number one contenders. Harris says that AMW are one of the veteran teams here in the USWA, and as Nigel continues to worry about his next heavyweight championship title match, he leaves his tag partner Guerrero in the dark! The fact that the two guys can't stand eachother, but they need eachother is a perfect recipe for disaster! Storm says that they have decided they want to take their title shot in Memphis NEXT week in front of a southern crowd! No-Countout-Match: Vampiro pinned Shocker after a waistlock suplex in 0:17:37. Rating: *** 3/4 [Victor Quinonez and Tiffany interfered against Shocker.] Shocker didn't stand a chance with the interference from Vic and Tiffany. Vampiro gets a big victory over a huge Lucha star. Shocker has not proved much here in the USWA, but he is a legend south of the border. Vampiro continues to rack up big wins over Konnans army. Interview: Konnan calls out Christopher Daniels and tells him he does not care how long his undefeated streak lasts, and he doesn't care if he thinks he is a contender to his title. NO TITLE SHOT! Konnan says that if he wants to run threw his army of Lucha stars thats fine, and if he wants to strike a deal with Vic Quinonez thats fine too, but he doubts Vampiro is happy about that situation. Konnan said he will pull out every political game he can think of to keep Daniels from receiving a Global Title shot! No-Countout-Match: AJ Styles pinned Universo 2000 with the Styles Clash in 0:10:15. Rating: *** 1/4 AJ Styles racks up another win trying to keep momentum as the championship committee gets ready to name the new number one contender to the title. AJ wants a chance to become a 2 time USWA champ, and he wants to stay fresh in the ring. No-Countout-Match: The Sandman and Too Cold Scorpio defeated 3-Minute Warning (Rosey and Jamal) when Sandman pinned Jamal after hitting him with a foreign object in 0:06:00. Rating: ** 3/4 Sandman and Scorpio a fan favorite tag team get a big victory over Rosey and Jamal. Sandman keeps the hardcore and Too Cold takes his fight to the air. This odd combo has been a great team in the USWA along with their past in the old ECW. No-Countout-Match: The Can-Am Express (Dan Kroffat and Doug Furnas) defeated PG-13 (J.C. Ice and Wolfie D) when Kroffat defeated J.C. Ice by disqualification in 0:07:53. Rating: ** 1/2 Can-Am Express continues to get tag team matches to keep their names in the title race. Tonight a victory over PG-13 helps them stay in the title picture. No-Countout-Match: David Taylor pinned Shark Boy with the Double Underhook Suplex in 0:10:01. Rating: *** 3/4 David Taylor defeats Shark Boy in a mat classic. Taylor still has what it takes in singles competition. As Taylor continues an attack after the match officials tried to help out Shark Boy....then music hits... No-Countout-Match: Goldberg pinned Shark Boy with the Jackhammer in 0:02:18. Rating: *** [David Taylor interfered against Shark Boy.] As Taylor was beating on Shark Boy Goldberg comes to the ring. This is the first time we have seen him in almost a month! Goldberg hits the ring and just destroys Shark Boy trying to make a statement! As Goldberg was in the ring and officials were trying to get him to leave TAZZ comes to the entrance and watches the ring... Card rating: *** 1/4 Match observations: Backstage Notes: With Vampiros contract ending in the middle of the KOTDM, USWA officials are very concerned about what his future holds. Everyone wants him to stay in the company and a title run is in his future if he does, if not a lot of the second half of 2002 will have to be rebooked. USWA officials see Vampiro as the future of the company for the next few years leading his Mexican invasion. Another rumor going around is that AJ Styles will be named the #1 contender to New Jacks title and will get the next shot at the strap. Everything is in the air until after the KOTDM, but expect a major card planned for July. The July card will have ALL the titles on the line. Konnan will defend his belt against either Daniels OR Vampiro or BOTH depending on what Vamp does come contract time. Goldberg is back in action and showed he was back by destroying an already bruised and battered Shark Boy. Goldberg has made it clear he wants to be the champ, but Tazz still has unfinished business with him. The Tag Titles are on the line in Memphis and then we roll into Nashville for two nights of hardcore action. The winner of the KOTDM will be given a title shot in the future, and if New Jack would somehow win the tournament, he will be able to pick his opponent and his stipulation to his next title defense!
